Mike LaChapelle is a global process improvement leader with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations improve performance across complex operations. He was originally trained in Lean Manufacturing by Shingijutsu Consulting and later earned both Black Belt and Master Black Belt certifications at GE. Over the course of his career, Mike has trained more than 600 Black Belts and Master Black Belts in Lean Six Sigma methods.
Mike has worked as a process improvement consultant across Manufacturing, Biotechnology, Healthcare, Financial Services, Private Equity, Retail, and Government. His client experience includes organizations such as CarMax, Mayo Clinic, CVS/Caremark, Church & Dwight, GKN Aerospace, Matthews International, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Earlier in his career, Mike spent more than 15 years in the plastics industry and ran a resin extrusion operation for GE Plastics, now SABIC. He has also supported clients in computer products, consumer products, lawn and garden, industrial products, and automotive industries on plastic product design and manufacturing.
As Director of Global Process Improvement for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Laboratory Products Division, Mike was responsible for driving process improvement across 15 laboratory consumable plants in seven countries, delivering more than $39 million in productivity savings over two years.
Mike graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and currently serves on the Board of the Cornell Engineering Alumni Association.
