In 1990, after serving as a US Army Officer in West Germany, Ed returned to the United States to embark on a distinguished 35-year career spanning engineering, operations, R&D, safety, and IT.
Ed’s career began in the food industry with the Quaker Oats Company, where he managed plant capital projects and developed an integrated production planning system that remained in use for an impressive 19 years. In 1993, he earned an AIB Certified Baker diploma and transitioned into R&D. Over the next nine years, Ed leveraged his engineering expertise and baking science knowledge to take on increasingly senior roles at Quaker Oats, Pizza Hut, and Kellogg’s.
In 2005, Ed moved into consulting for the food industry. He successfully coordinated the startup of a $55 million frozen food line, achieving all throughput targets set by sales and marketing. Demonstrating his commitment to social impact, Ed also traveled pro bono to Kathmandu, Nepal, to support an NGO that employed disadvantaged individuals to produce granola and cereal bars for the Himalayan trekking industry.
Ed joined CHEP in 2009 and was quickly promoted to Sr. Director of Global Engineering, where he built a consolidated team and established global standards. He later assumed the role of Sr. Director of Global Safety, achieving similar success. Ed concluded his tenure at CHEP as an internal SME for operations and engineering, which included optimizing a hybrid plastic molding process in South Africa using DOE techniques.
Ed graduated from Auburn University in 1986 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
