The challenge

A leading global health insurance provider sought to establish a culture of continuous improvement within its information technology organization. With more than 2,000 associates across functions including change and release management, service management, security, and application development, leadership recognized the need for a structured approach that could scale and endure.

While improvement opportunities existed, the organization lacked a consistent framework for problem-solving, prioritization, and execution within IT. Leadership engaged Adonis Partners to help design a continuous improvement model that would build internal capability and support long-term growth.

The IT continuous improvement approach

Adonis Partners partnered with the organization to introduce Lean Six Sigma methodologies tailored specifically for IT operations. The process design and governance team was organized into core capability groups at the Yellow Belt and Kaizen Facilitator levels, creating a foundation for structured improvement leadership.

This effort led to the launch of #IgniteCI, a department-wide initiative focused on disciplined problem-solving and operational excellence. Recognizing that traditional industry frameworks required adaptation for IT environments, Adonis worked closely with leaders to develop customized training and a practical playbook for planning and facilitating Kaizen events.

High-impact projects were selected to apply these methods in real operational settings, while associates received coaching to reinforce skills and confidence in leading improvement efforts.

The impact

The continuous improvement framework enabled the organization to address critical challenges across IT, including project intake, assessment, and testing processes. Visibility into workloads improved, middle management was empowered to lead change, and teams gained a shared structure for prioritizing and executing work.

As capability grew, engagement increased and problem-solving became embedded in daily operations. Employees were energized to participate in improvement efforts, creating a renewed sense of ownership, community, and momentum. The result was a sustainable continuous improvement model that strengthened IT performance and positioned the organization for ongoing advancement.
